Israel: Dead Sea Sinkholes
The Dead Sea is in great peril. Since 2006 the level of the sea has dropped by more than one meter each year. Its shoreline is pockmarked by over 5000 sinkholes, and winter floods are a significant threat to the area’s infrastructure. If nothing is done, the Dead Sea will disappear by 2050.
